Lesson: How To Play - And Your Bird Can Sing - Part 1
If one Beatles album could be dubbed their "guitar" album, "Revolver", would be it. Along with "Rubber Soul", "Revolver" captures the Beatles playing as a tight unit, perfecting the three minute song, still conforming to the conventional "pop radio" way of thinking. Not that this is a bad thing, the Beatles of 1966 were bursting at the seams with fresh new ideas and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds and structures. It's a harbinger for the revolution that would come one album later with the arrival of "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band". In this lesson we will dissect John Lennon's "And Your Bird Can Sing" and unravel the closely knit lead guitar lines played by George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
