Puddle of Mudd - Famous

Cover:   Psycho

From the album 'Famous', these post-grunge, rock radio favorites cooked up another big hit in 2007 with "Psycho". Puddle of Mudd topped the charts of 'Mainstream Rock Tracks' and 'Hot Modern Rock Tracks' for nine weeks with this song, which was written by lead singer Wes Scantlin and bassist Doug Ardito (the duo who also wrote the band's mega-breakout hit "Blurry").

Lesson:   Jeff Loomis/Nevermore – Part III: Final Product

Guitarist Jeff Loomis has created his unique brand of technical metal from years of woodshedding and touring with his group Nevermore. Check out this third of four GPO exclusive interview-lessons with Nevermore’s resident guitar genius, as he discusses his approach songwriting and guitar performance style and personally transcribes and performs highlights from the Nevermore classic Final Product!

The Scorpions - Love Drive

Cover:   Another Piece of Meat

Long before mega-hits like "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and "No One Like You", Scorpions were turning out great rock-metal songs like "Another Piece Of Meat". From the 'Lovedrive' album, which is considered one of their finest, this album also saw the return of Michael Schenker to the line-up.

Sublime - Sublime

Cover:   Wrong Way

From Sublime's self-titled album, this song peaked at #3 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. Thanks to this hit and others, the album 'Sublime' turned into the bands biggest, and sadly their last true studio album, due to the death of singer/guitarist Brad Nowell two months before the album's release. The trombone solo in this song contains an interpolation of the theme from Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue".
